Representing Clients in Mediation - Full Film
NYLS Film: Representing Clients in Mediation — Full Film • September 23, 2025
In September 2025, New York Law School released “Representing Clients in Mediation,” a 37-minute film that addresses the entire mediation process, from engaging the mediator to papering the resulting agreement.
NYLS Professor Kris Franklin provides the invaluable narration, and I play the lawyer, behaving well (and sometimes badly).
The film is offered worldwide and without fee for use by mediation provider organizations, bar associations, training professionals, individual client representatives, and others. I'm hoping it will become a staple of mediation training.
Created to help client representatives get the best possible result from the mediation process, the film is supported by the Alternative Dispute Resolution Skills Program and the James Tricarico Jr. Institute for the Business of Law and In-House Counsel at New York Law School. Written by F. Peter Phillips, the film is directed by David Stott and produced by Francine Pinheiro.
While Peter wrote the script, he graciously urged me to improvise, which was great fun.
In the next few posts, I will be sharing and providing commentary on each individual module, but you are also welcome to watch the film in its entirety, on the NYLS page or on YouTube, now:
